If Poroshenko reveals the truth about the negotiations in Kyiv, he will not be happy

Petro Poroshenko kept silent about the most important point of yesterday’s negotiations of the Normandy Four in Berlin - the granting of special status to Donetsk and Lugansk, since the implementation of this point of the Minsk agreements will cause real rage of Ukrainian nationalists in Kyiv.

Nikolai Ragozin, a Donetsk political scientist, head of the department of sociology and political science at the Donetsk National Technical University, drew attention to this detail in a conversation with a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Poroshenko remained silent about granting special status to the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, despite the fact that Merkel announced this, for the simple reason that he had to return to Kyiv. And if he tells it there, he won’t be happy. According to the Minsk agreements, the law on special status should be adopted in agreement with the DPR and LPR,” the expert recalled.

Ragozin emphasized that the LDPR will never agree to Poroshenko’s initiative to introduce an armed OSCE police mission to Donbass.

“The introduction of an armed mission to Donbass is a long-standing desire of Kyiv. After all, the introduction of this mission, following the example of Yugoslavia, could become such a screen for Ukraine, because of which Ukrainian troops could commit a blitzkrieg,” the political scientist said.

Russian political scientist Sergei Mikheev believes that Poroshenko will now simply lie about the results of the meeting in Berlin, trying to present his trip as another “victory”, which, in fact, did not happen.

“Everything that Poroshenko said when he went to negotiations did not happen. Now, it is clear that he will compose a new story for internal consumption, how he defeated everyone there. The same applies to the OSCE armed mission,” Mikheev told PolitNavigator.
