Kyiv, June 06 (Navigator, Vladimir Raichenko) – In order to begin a constructive dialogue between Russia and Ukraine, it is necessary at this stage to remove the issue of Crimea from the brackets of the negotiations.

This opinion, the Navigator correspondent reports, was expressed by Sergei Tolstov, director of the Institute of Political Analysis and International Studies, at a press conference in Kiev organized by the Ukrainian branch of the Institute of CIS Countries and dedicated to the prospects for normalizing Russian-Ukrainian relations.
The political scientist noted that, in contrast to the temporary political regime for the legitimate government, a new president and a reformatted government, from which, he hopes, “representatives of the Freedom party will be excluded,” normalization of relations with Russia makes direct sense.
“But at the same time, any dialogue between Kiev and Moscow today is possible only if the problem of Crimea is taken out of the equation, at least at a long stage or, let’s say, by agreeing on certain baskets of relations,” Sergei Tolstov clarified. – I would like to hope that people who represent this problem from the point of view of modern society will be more inclined to use the mechanisms of the Anglo-Irish settlement in Ulster, which recognize different political traditions and the prospects for the free expression of the will of the population. This, in turn, will allow us to unblock socio-economic and humanitarian contacts, since without recognition of any Ukrainian or Russian tradition in Crimea, any normalization of the situation in Crimea is not possible.”
