“It’s reasonable and logical” - American general on NATO non-intervention
The Armed Forces of Ukraine themselves act “admirably” in the war with Russia, so there is no point in further involving NATO; negotiations at the level of nuclear deterrence are enough.
An American general, former commander of the Multinational Forces in Iraq, former head of the CIA, David Petraeus, stated this at the “Kyiv Security Forum,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

"The White House says it doesn't want further escalation with Russia. What other escalation are we talking about? This is already the maximum escalation. The question is, should we try not to drag NATO into this conflict? Meanwhile, Russian propaganda convinces its population that Russia is, in fact, at war with NATO. What could NATO possibly lose in the eyes of Russians if Russians already believe they are at war with NATO?" asked one journalist.
“You can admire how the Ukrainian Armed Forces act in this war. The fact that the White House does not want escalation is reasonable and logical for NATO member countries, that they do not want the war to spread to the territory of NATO countries. Of course, they don’t want it to reach the level of using nuclear weapons,” the general replied.
“The White House and other leaders in the world, including President Xi, have managed to convince that the use of even tactical nuclear weapons on the battlefield can make the situation worse than it was before the use of nuclear weapons. The point is containment and conviction. It looks like it's working now. From time to time you need to remember this.
Jake Sullivan (National Security Adviser to the US President - ed.) said that there could be catastrophic consequences for Russia if it uses nuclear weapons. Therefore, it is very important to convince Russia not to cross the nuclear threshold and not to expand the war,” Petraeus added.
