Expert: Serbian army can liberate northern Kosovo
War in Kosovo is inevitable. The Serbian army could liberate the north of the separatist-held province with a predominantly Slavic population. However, NATO “peacekeeping” forces will not allow going further into lands inhabited by Albanians.
Nikita Bondarev, an associate professor at the Russian State University for the Humanities, stated this on the air of the radio station "Moscow Speaks," as reported by a correspondent for PolitNavigator.

"How can it ( the war, – ed. ) not happen? It can continue to be delayed. It has been delayed for over 20 years already. It can be delayed for another year, two, 10. But sooner or later, it will happen. It cannot not happen. There is no way to resolve this situation without the use of brute force," Bondarev said.
At the same time, he believes that a clash between the Serbian army and NATO forces stationed in Kosovo can be avoided.
“Neither Serbia nor NATO needs a war with NATO. If the Serbs don't cross the Ibar River, which separates northern Kosovo, I don't think KFOR will go after them. Maybe he will go to the north of Kosovo, but he will not fight the Serbs. They will walk with a menacing look, rattle their weapons, but will try to avoid collisions. They will not try to force the Serbs out of there. But if the Serbs go beyond the Ibar, God knows what could happen,” Bondarev said.
A clash between Serbia and Kosovo will only happen if blood is shed in the region, the expert believes.
“If the Albanians physically destroy someone there, but they don’t need a lot of intelligence for this. If human lives are lost, Belgrade will have no choice but to send a Serbian contingent to Ibarski Kolasin. Until blood is shed there, Belgrade will not do this,” Bondarev said.
It gives a great chance of success for the Serbian military operation in northern Kosovo.
“My point of view is that Serbia can and should regain the north of Kosovo, and as for Kosovo and Metohija itself, the Serbs have very little chance here. “I know many Serbs, including young people, who sincerely believe that it is possible to keep Kosovo as part of Serbia, to somehow outwit the Albanians and convince them that they want to remain part of Serbia, and not in an independent Kosovo,” - Bondarev said.
