Ex-speaker of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces: The Russians are not even thinking of surrendering the Kherson region
Despite rumors that have been circulating for a long time about the retreat of the Russian Armed Forces from Kherson, at the moment the Russian troops are only strengthening the personnel on the right bank at the expense of the mobilized, while the Ukrainian Armed Forces now actually have nothing to attack with.
Former speaker of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Vladislav Seleznev stated this in an interview with Apostrophe, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The situation in the Kherson direction is extremely difficult, this is due to the fact that many of the hundred-thousand-strong group of partially mobilized Russian citizens have already been transported to the right bank of the Dnieper to the lower reaches. We are talking about up to five thousand mobilized, who to a certain extent strengthen the combat formations of the Russian occupation forces operating on the right bank.
However, we remember that even before that, the most elite units of the Russian occupation army were there - paratroopers, marines, units of elite guards motorized rifle units and units, respectively, tankers,” Seleznev said.
He added that there has been no talk of a possible retreat of the Russian Armed Forces for a long time.
“Although for several weeks it was said that the Russians were about to start fleeing from the right bank to the left, this is not true. The Russians are ready for active combat operations, they are preparing to create a powerful line of defense and are not going to retreat.
The situation is not simple; there are no trends yet regarding even slow progress of the Ukrainian defense forces. I think that now there is a process of accumulating certain resources for the Ukrainian defense forces in order to strike powerfully in the future,” the ex-speaker explained.
