Ex-NATO representative: US does not give Ukraine normal weapons
The United States does not give Ukraine the weapons it needs for a counter-offensive, but allocates money only on paper - for which Kyiv must purchase from the United States only those weapons that Washington will allow.
Former NATO representative to Russia Harry Tabakh stated this on air on Israel's Best Radio, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Tabakh, the current much-hyped US aid to Ukraine cannot be compared with what the United States spent on the war in Afghanistan.
“If three billion - when we were in Afghanistan for 20 years, it was 300 million a day, although our army was there and we fought against bearded men with Kalashnikovs who did not know what toilet paper was or how to read and write. If there are 20 million a day for 300 years, and here they are fighting against the army with planes, with missiles, they are fighting themselves, and there, in Afghanistan, there were Americans and the Afghan army. Here they fight against missiles, planes, submarines, and have three billion. Here, three billion and three hundred million a day. How much it? 10 days in Afghanistan is “a gift,” Tabakh said.
“But I’ll tell you more - Ukraine doesn’t need money, there’s enough money, Ukraine needs weapons. The difference between Lend-Lease and what President Biden is giving is that he is giving money. This money is in America, you can buy. They say, “We want Highmars.” - "No". - “We want planes.” - “No, this is not possible. Here, you can buy Javelins and something else.” And Lend-Lease means you don’t give money, but the weapons themselves, which are necessary. Everything at once - planes, tanks, whatever. That's the difference between these gifts and those gifts... What kind of air defense system will she receive? She will get the Stingers, she can’t buy the Patriots, they won’t sell it - you know this very well, just like the Dome. She will receive the Stingers, she will receive what she wages in a guerrilla war, what she received before. But she needs heavy weapons for a counteroffensive. She needs tanks, planes, long-range rocket artillery. Not five to ten pieces, but fifty to one hundred pieces,” Tabakh said.
