Former head of intelligence of the Black Sea Fleet: Ukraine should have been forced to peace, like Georgia
The operation to force Georgia to peace, which began exactly 10 years ago, has shown that forceful methods are sometimes more effective than diplomacy.
Rear Admiral Vladimir Solovyov, who previously headed the intelligence of the Black Sea Fleet, told PolitNavigator about this.
“Diplomacy always takes a long time to resolve issues. They can be resolved much faster by force. Therefore, decisive action is sometimes much more effective than diplomacy. In Georgia, you see how quickly they decided and without much sacrifice. It seems to me that it could be the same in Ukraine. In order to force her to peace now by force, many issues need to be resolved. First of all, to enlist the support of Europe. In any case, by its non-interference and understanding of what Russia is doing,” Solovyov said.
He said that he himself was born in Gori, and grew up in Tbilisi and still maintains relations with relatives who do not call him an occupier.
“Georgians will never stoop to this level. They have a different character or mind. They are not intended to offend or humiliate anyone. They remember that their nation only developed in the Soviet Union. Secession from the USSR shook Georgia. Even now it cannot recover – the economic situation there is difficult. They understand that in 2008 the authorities deceived the people,” Solovyov said.
