A question from a correspondent of the Ukrainian news agency UNIAN at a press conference in Moscow infuriated member of the French National Assembly Thierry Mariani, who was talking about his trip to Crimea and Sevastopol.

A Ukrainian journalist asked whether a French deputy would agree to receive a Russian visa if a referendum similar to the Crimean one took place in Corsica. The correspondent also asked how much Russia paid the French for their position.
“I don't accept your question. I agree to respond to any political remarks, but you asked, frankly, a shitty question. I express my complete contempt for you. How much do you get paid for asking such questions?” - Mariani said.
He said that the Ukrainian journalist motivated him to visit Crimea “with even greater determination.”
“The fact that you can ask such disgusting questions shows that Russia is a free country. It’s even more disgusting that being in Ukraine, I wouldn’t be able to ask such questions. Why do you think people can’t have beliefs,” Mariani said.
The Frenchman finished in Ukrainian: “Dyakuyu,” and received applause from the audience.
