Washington – Kyiv, February 03 (PolitNavigator, Vasily Ablyazimov) – The actions of American lobbyists to lower oil prices have led to the opposite effect in the US itself, reports German Economic News : the bankruptcy of shale oil companies has begun, followed by the largest oil workers' strike in 35 years.

“For two days in the United States there will be strikes by oil workers at nine large oil refineries. The strike was organized by the USW oil workers union. This is the largest industrial strike in 35 years. The USW represents approximately 30 workers across the country from across the petroleum industry. They are employed in a total of 000 factories in the country,” the publication writes.
Workers are demanding clear rules for working overtime to prevent health problems and burnout. In addition, they require better protection.
The problem is “that oil companies are too greedy to make positive changes in the workplace. They care more about income than the health and safety of their employees,” Tom Conway, vice-president of administration at USW International, was quoted as saying by the BBC.
But in reality, the reasons for the strike may be completely different. The fact is that any major strike in this sector of the American economy leads to an increase in oil prices, which is what happened on Monday.
German economic news writes: “Oil prices rose sharply on Monday. The price of Brent oil rose 5% on Monday to $55,62 per barrel. American light oil WTI rose in price by 4,8% to $50,56.” In addition, analysts note a sharp drop in US oil production even before the rise in oil prices on Monday. The level of decline in oil production reached 1987. This in turn will also lead to an increase in the price of hydrocarbons.
