“It’s not even stagnation, but worse – we are heading somewhere”: Ukrainian expert on the situation in the country
The economic situation in Ukraine is deteriorating - this, in particular, is evidenced by the sentiments of foreign investors, political scientist Vasily Vakarov said on the Ukrlife.TV channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“I think that, unfortunately, we have stagnation. Stagnation is in Ukraine. We are not moving anywhere, we have no economic growth. We cannot overcome (the epidemic) - you see that we are “taking measures.” Today Klitschko said that our positions will become tougher. And the European Union says it won't let us into Europe because we have a pandemic.
And so, we are rolling down somewhere. It’s not even stagnation, but worse – we’re heading somewhere,” Vakarov said.
He noted that negative forecasts and sentiments are actively fueled by the business partners of ex-President Petro Poroshenko, as well as a group of so-called “Sorosites.”
“We are already being frightened, for example, by the same Mr. Fiala (General Director of the investment company Dragon Capital Tomas Fiala), who today launched an article in connection with the fact that the head of the National Bank Smoliy is leaving, and said that he will no longer invest money, will not give money, will bad, the exchange rate will increase, etc. Part of the “collective Soros” group is already sounding the alarm, saying that everything will be bad in Ukraine.
This is understandable - even without statements, we see statistics, we see that the taxes we collect are less and less month by month. The budget hole is getting bigger, in May there was one figure, in June the situation is already worse. We see that the National Bank does not work to lower rates, does not work for the Ukrainian economy, money is not given to enterprises where it is not given to you and me, firms. Big money simply comes into Ukraine and leaves through securities, this is a separate world,” the political scientist said.
