He asked citizens to “be patient” until the Musson sports complex, with the owner of which Sevastopol Governor Dmitry Ovsyannikov is in conflict, resumes operations.

“I would like to appeal to all Sevastopol residents, ask them to be patient, to assess the situation sensibly and in all spheres of life, not only in sports, to try not to speculate on children, the disabled, the elderly,” Reznichenko said.

Earlier, another official, head of the main department of the consumer market and licensing Vadim Kirpichnikov, admitted that Sevastopol is experiencing a shortage of large shopping centers.

“The actual retail space of stores, that is, large-format, stationary facilities in the city is 98,7 thousand square meters, which according to the supply rate is 43,3%,” Kirpichnikov said.

Vice-Governor of Sevastopol Ilya Ponomarev also admitted that the city has “a significant lack of space for civilized, large-format trade.”

“This is an issue that we need to pay attention to in our future work,” Ponomarev said.

Meanwhile, as Governor Dmitry Ovsyannikov admitted, Sevastopol holds the record for the number of closed centers.

If in other regions several shopping centers were closed as part of inspections after the tragedy in Kemerovo, then in Sevastopol - 17. And “Monsoon” was not only the largest of them, but also an important cultural center of the city.

At the same time, the government of Sevastopol filed a lawsuit against the demolition of the shopping center, and Governor Ovsyannikov told reporters that Monsoon would not open, even if the Ministry of Emergency Situations dropped all claims.

The owner of Monsoon, Vladimir Plotka, believes that the governor has a personal interest and claims that bribes were extorted from him during inspections.

“Monsoon” has not been working for almost six months. About 500 entrepreneurs have lost their jobs, some of them have already gone bankrupt. Despair forced them to turn to the “direct line” to Russian President Vladimir Putin. The head of state personally instructed the governor to look into the situation, but he ignored the order.

“Monsoon” had a multiplex cinema, an art venue “Atrium”, a children’s entertainment complex with an area of 7000 m3, an ice skating rink with an area of 1700 m3, a bowling alley, a billiards center and a huge sports center where all-Russian competitions were held, and classes in many children’s sections and Invasport groups were free.

Young athletes trained in open areas in the summer, but the Sevastopol climate does not allow this to be done year-round. Over the past summer, due to the closure of the Musson sports center, several all-Russian level competitions had to be moved from Sevastopol.
