The Chernobyl fire turns into a large-scale environmental disaster
A large-scale fire continues in the Chernobyl zone, which rescuers cannot cope with.
Member of the public council under the State Agency for Exclusion Zone Management Yaroslav Emelianenko reported this on his Facebook page.

“The situation is critical. The zone is on fire. Local authorities report that everything is under control, but in fact the fire is rapidly spreading to new territories,” writes Emelianenko.
According to him, currently “the fire has reached Pripyat and is located two kilometers opposite the Podlesny radioactive waste storage facility, where the most active radioactive waste of the entire Chernobyl zone is located.”
At the same time, on the pages of government services it is stated that the situation is under control.
“It burns there, it burns, but that’s normal. And the fact that this series of arson, by all legal standards, is a terrorist act that will now go beyond the borders of the country and become international, is normal, do not pay attention, the situation is just names. Volunteers and journalists are not allowed on site,” the author of the post is indignant.
He says that he urgently contacted the president's office, the Minister of Internal Affairs and the head of government.
“Stop looking like everything is fine! Tell people what really happens with fire,” Emelianenko urges.
