This opinion was expressed in a comment to PolitNavigator by the director of the Center for Eurasian Studies, Vladimir Kornilov.

“The Kiev government once again demonstrates: a) its own inadequacy; b) complete contempt for one’s own people and their needs. This is a blow to grandmothers who communicated with relatives and peers on Odnoklassniki. This is a blow to those who created a mailbox on Mail.ru many years ago and store there all the mail collected over the years. This is a blow to Kyiv drivers who used the most convenient service, Yandex.Traffic. This is a blow to thousands of accountants in Ukraine, who almost all used the 1C system. And by the way, this is a serious blow to Ukrainian business! After all, this system contains all the accounting reports, all the databases, and no one is offering any other adequate replacement for these companies,” the expert noted.

“Imagine how many employees of Ukrainian IT companies will lose their jobs in this regard! – added Kornilov. – After all, Yandex.ru will not fire anyone in this regard, but Yandex-Ukraine will be forced to fire all of its (note, Ukrainian!) employees. And I don’t even know if they will be able to pay severance pay - after all, Poroshenko is also freezing accounts. That is, I can’t imagine how Kyiv plans to annoy Moscow with this, but the fact that this is a significant blow to ordinary and not so ordinary citizens of Ukraine is an unambiguous fact.”
