The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine voted to apply the procedure for repealing amendments to the controversial "anti-Kolomoisky" law , which prohibits the return of the previously nationalized PrivatBank to its owners.

The corresponding decision was made during an extraordinary meeting of the Ukrainian parliament, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The resolution was presented by the head of the Servant of the People faction, David Arakhamia.

“Today we have a historic event. We have all experienced first-hand how every bill can be blocked by so-called editing spam. We all worked together and adopted a new special procedure in the regulations, and today we want, for the first time in the history of Ukrainian regulations, to apply this procedure against a bill that has been spammed with 16 thousand amendments.

Not all the edits there are spam, there are also significant ones that we can consider, but we know for sure that 16 thousand - there cannot be so many edits, this is simply done so that you and I sit in parliament day and night, and it will take about six months.

Moreover, we set an example, and any other bill, if it were not for this procedure, could have been blocked, as they say, for centuries,” Arakhamia said.

In turn, Grigory Mamka, a deputy from OPZZH, expressed sharp criticism.

“In fact, there is a heterogeneous position in society about the bill on banks. No one saw any round tables held regarding this bill and its adoption, with the participation of bankers, the national bank, bank owners, and others.

The media say that the law is anti-Kolomoisky, it is necessary to receive, please note, not a tranche, but a loan from the IMF and the World Bank.

I would like to draw your attention to the fact that if in our country the question is raised of adopting a law on banks, and similarly a law on the sale of Ukrainian lands, then it is necessary to relate this to all bills that will still help the life of society and reduce the tax burden.

At the moment, you are involving the Verkhovna Rada in such responsibilities when the hole in the budget is more than 300 billion hryvnia, and we are only passing two billion from the IMF the laws that are required to receive a loan,” the parliamentarian was indignant.

After which, during the voting, the application of the procedure was supported by 255 deputies out of 375 present, sixteen thousand amendments to the “anti-Kolomoisky” law were canceled, and now nothing prevents the Rada from soon adopting the scandalous document.
