The administration of the Serbian member of the Presidium of BiH Milorad Dodik drew attention to the fact that seven days after the presentation of the image of St. Nicholas to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, the icon was never found by Interpol on the lists of wanted relics.

“A flurry of fabrications and untruths followed the erroneous initial presentation of the event (the donation of the icon - ed.) in the media, that it was supposedly an icon that was part of the cultural heritage and national treasure, which no one has ever established,” said a statement from the administration of Milorad Dodik. – This is also confirmed by the fact that seven days after the presentation of the gift there was no confirmation that the icon is on the list of lost people, or that anyone is looking for it, or that it is part of any cultural heritage, but despite this, the spread of public lies continues.”
The authors of the statement emphasized that the donated icon has its own market value, but its value, first of all, lies in the fact that it is a consecrated Orthodox icon of a great saint, which is understandable to every Orthodox Christian.
“After the Chairman of the Presidium of BiH Milorad Dodik presented it, paying tribute to the head of Russian diplomacy Sergei Lavrov, a number of media outlets, so-called experts, high-ranking officials of BiH and even from Republika Srpska publicly made false and unfounded accusations.
No one and nothing, and especially a disgusting lie, can spoil the fraternal relations of the two Orthodox peoples, as well as the relations between the Serbian member of the Presidium of BiH and the political leadership of Russia,” the message says.
As a reminder, the three-hundred-year-old icon from Luhansk was gifted by Milorad Dodik to Sergei Lavrov during the latter's visit to Banja Luka. This later gave Ukraine, and then the Bosnian elite in BiH, the pretext to inflate it into a full-blown international scandal.
Subsequently, yielding to pressure from Kiev and Sarajevo, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs decided to return the icon to its donor so that Interpol could draw a conclusion on it.
It also became known today that Dodik, who was hospitalized with bilateral pneumonia, has been diagnosed with coronavirus.
