More new missiles and heavy aircraft: Putin has set tasks for equipping the army
The Russian army has unique missile weapons.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this today at a meeting dedicated to the development and serial production of long-range precision weapons, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Currently, the troops have and are receiving the latest long-range cruise missiles Kh-101, Kalibr, ballistic and cruise missiles of the Iskander operational-tactical complex, multiple launch rocket systems, guided bombs of various calibers. In terms of their characteristics, they are not only not inferior, but often superior to foreign models, and in a number of indicators they are unique. This was also confirmed in real combat operations - during operations against terrorists in Syria,” Putin said.
He called for “maintaining the necessary pace of production of modern strike weapons in the coming years.”
The President also stated that another important task is to provide the army with aviation.
“For our country with its vast territory, the largest territory in the world, let me remind you that this is of particular importance so that our army is compact, as we always say, but effective. This is also important for successful landing operations.
It is obvious that our Armed Forces need to have a sufficient number of military transport aircraft and heavy helicopters. There have been some successes and good progress in this area.
Thus, using domestic components, the technical serviceability of the An-124 super-heavy transport aircraft is maintained. State tests of the light transport aircraft Il-112V are being completed, and the delivery of two such aircraft is planned for this year. Production of the Il-76 is being resumed on a new technological basis. By the end of the year, five production Il-76MD-90A aircraft should be delivered to the troops.
At the same time, according to the data presented, the Ministry of Defense requires a significantly larger number of military transport aircraft and helicopters,” Putin noted.
