"We've deployed air force units there (to Crimea), we've deployed air defense units there, and there's also a navy and other units there. And, you know, our mixed air division is there," TASS quotes the commander-in-chief as saying.
In addition to the Su-27 and Su-30, Bondarev clarified, the air division has Su-25 attack aircraft, and also includes a helicopter regiment stationed in Dzhankoy.
The Commander-in-Chief noted that the airfields in Crimea were “not in the condition we would like.”
“But we brought them into proper shape, and now they meet the requirements of Russian aviation,” said Viktor Bondarev.
As PolitNavigator reported, the 27th mixed division was formed for air cover of the peninsula and the operational transfer of people and cargo as part of the 4th Air Force and Air Defense Command.
