A developer from Sevastopol undertook to improve Ai-Petri after the demolition of the shalmans
The famous Ai-Petri plateau in Crimea will be improved at its own expense after the demolition of the shanty towns and restaurants by Interstroy, a company owned by Sevastopol construction magnate Yevgeny Kabanov, a Crimean State Council member representing the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia. The cost of the work is estimated at 30 million rubles, Kabanov himself announced on his blog.

“After the dismantling of unauthorized retail facilities, no permanent buildings and structures are planned here anymore. Among the upcoming works is the organization of public parking (with an approximate number of 300 spaces) and a pedestrian zone with the laying of paving slabs. Partial reconstruction of the observation deck includes the placement of a forged metal fence (approximately 500 linear meters). In addition, sidewalk paths, benches and trash cans will be placed on the plateau. To implement landscaping work, black soil will be brought in and plants will be planted,” Kabanov wrote.
The completion date for the improvement work is October 20, 2017. Currently, 20 units of construction equipment and a team of 25 workers are located on the plateau. At the same time, tourist access to the plateau is still open.
It is believed that Kabanov enjoys the support of the head of Crimea Sergei Aksenov. The day before, the head of the republic publicly stated that no profitable real estate would appear on the Ai-Petri plateau.
“There will be no buildings on Ai-Petri. I don’t act on the principle: some were demolished in order to give their friends a chance to build something in this place. I guarantee that there will be no catering or residential buildings on Ai-Petri. There will be just planar structures, paths, benches for everyone,” Aksenov said on the First Crimean TV channel.
Kabanov is known in Sevastopol for two buildings that caused criticism from the townspeople. This is the “Peak of Success” high-rise building, blocking the view of Chersonesos, and a large house on Lastovaya Street, blocking the Malakhov Kurgan.
It is also known that Interstroy is participating in the development of the former Primorsky Park in Yalta.
