The Belarusian oppositionist allowed his Russian colleague to keep the “poor” Smolensk for himself
Presidential candidates in Belarus, when giving interviews to Russian media, must make claims on Smolensk and Bryansk.
This was stated by his Belarusian counterpart Eduard Palchis in an interview with Russian opposition figure Mikhail Svetov, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“You can see the stupid attempts of the (Belarusian) candidates to play along with (Russia). They give an interview to Kommersant, they talk not about the return of Smolensk and Bryansk and Great Belarus, but about the fact that we will be friends. At the same time, the domestic market is being told something completely different,” Palchis said.
At the same time, he believes that Belarus should not go further than claims to Russian territories, because it does not have enough funds to maintain such “squalor.”
“We come to Smolensk, we see how you bombed it, what you did to our beautiful lands. This is a degraded alcohol-dependent population. Poor Smolensk. When I was there, it felt like it was being bombed and then covered with advertising posters. It just hurts. Even if we take these territories for free in order to bring them to the middle Belarusian region...”, argues Palchis.
