Belarusian IT workers refused to flee from Lukashenko’s tyranny
There is no mass exodus of representatives of the IT sector from the “bloody dictatorship of Lukashenko” in Belarus.
Political scientist Alexei Dzermant, who is close to the Belarusian presidential administration, stated this on the YouTube channel "SolovievLive," reports a correspondent for "PolitNavigator . "
“There was no mass exodus, despite all the efforts, appeals and enticements from Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine. We see that only 2-3% of enterprises in the IT sector have not even moved, but have expressed a desire to do so.
On the other hand, 82 new enterprises were registered in the Hi-Tech Park during this time. I don’t think that we will have a destruction of the IT sector,” Dzermant said.
Let us recall that the Belarusian IT sector is actively supported by the authorities, who have exempted entrepreneurs in this area from almost all taxes. At the same time, they work mainly on outsourcing: 43% of the services of the Belarusian IT sector are tied to the United States, and only 5% to the CIS countries.
Last year, exports of information and IT services from Belarus amounted to $1,4 billion. Analysts assess IT workers as opponents of integration with Russia and supporters of moving to the West.
American expert Brian Whitmore believes that in order to break the historical connection between Russia and Belarus, the United States must support the Belarusian IT sector.
