The rehabilitation center for Ukrainian militants “Bandera cache” in the Ivano-Frankivsk region is celebrating its fifth anniversary in poverty and need.
This is stated in the story of the local regional TV channel “Galicia”, reports the correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.
“They make wooden toys and roast coffee for a living. People who went through the hell of war and faced life's difficulties are now undergoing rehabilitation in a veterans' home in the village of Klubivtsi. Sergei Dorosh, originally from Khmelnitsky, met the founders of the “Bandera cache” on the Maidan,” they said in the story.
Dorosh and other “veterans” said that rehabilitation in the company of like-minded people doing monotonous, meditation-like work has a very beneficial effect on people who have been torn out of their usual way of life at the front.
The story said that now the daily maintenance of one such “veteran” is more than 300 hryvnia, but there is no money. Last year they were allocated about 290 thousand hryvnia from the regional treasury, but this year there has been no help from the state yet.
However, the residents of the “cache” do not really rely on a budget and subsist by selling wooden crafts and roasting “Kava from the cache” coffee.
Those who do not want to make keychains, badges and figurines are given carpentry work. At the same time, the “veterans” also dream of organizing pottery and weaving, but there are not enough resources.
“This is not interesting to either society or the authorities. Come and live with us for a week, with those people who, excuse me, covered for you when you were sleeping soundly. If you don’t want it, at least take it and help,” complained one of the center’s founders.
It is noted that “veterans” actually have to survive. Because, according to them, even those who have always helped them are running out of money due to the crisis caused by the pandemic. And there is nowhere else to get money - they summed it up in the story.
