Bishops and flocks of the canonical UOC were prohibited from participating in the “Bartholomew-Poroshenko Cathedral”
The Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, whose meeting took place on December 7, 2018 at the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra under the chairmanship of Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev and All Ukraine, noted that the Patriarch of Constantinople does not have any canonical right to convene any meeting in Ukraine, the correspondent reports “PolitNavigator”.

The Holy Synod also emphasized that Patriarch Bartholomew has no right to summon the bishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to such meetings.
“The planned “unification council” is considered an illegal meeting, since representatives of schismatic factions will take part in it. In this regard, and on the basis of the Resolution of the Council of Bishops of November 13, 2018, the episcopate, clergy, monastics and laity of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church are not blessed to participate in the so-called unification council,” says the documents on the results of the Synod’s decision.
The Holy Synod especially draws attention to the fact that none of the clergy or laity is authorized to represent the Ukrainian Orthodox Church at this meeting.
