Arestovich: The Crimean Bridge is invulnerable. We need nuclear weapons
In order for Ukraine to destroy the Crimean Bridge, it needs to transfer nuclear weapons - otherwise, only the bridge will be damaged, which will quickly be restored.
This was stated by Oleksiy Arestovich, adviser to the head of the Ukrainian presidential office, on the video blog of fugitive Russian liberal Mark Feygin, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Arestovich, the United States is not transferring to Ukraine weapons that could seriously damage the bridge.
“I'm skeptical here. Because HIMARS will not reach the Crimean Bridge. When drawing a line of contact, they will not reach. If, of course, they don’t provide Atacms missiles, then they can get them, but that’s not the problem. The problem is that, most likely, they will not be given, and the second point is that there are bigger goals here than the Crimean Bridge. Congestions of troops, group headquarters and so on, airfields and so on - they are more important.
It’s useless to shoot at the bridge, I’ll tell you right away. And Atacms is also useless to shoot, because the bridge is built in advance in such a way that in order to damage the support, a nuclear strike must be launched there, and the spans are restored very quickly, in a matter of hours.
This is a very complex story to damage such an object as the Crimean Bridge. You can shoot at it for symbolic reasons, to collapse a piece of canvas, but, believe me, we have more worthy goals, more important ones,” Arestovich said.
