American diplomat: Putin behaves in Syria in such a way that there is no reason to lift sanctions
The Russian army in Syria is attacking not so much ISIS as the Syrian opposition; the West has no reason to reconsider its policy towards Moscow. Former US Ambassador to Ukraine (1998-2000) Steven Pifer stated this on Shuster Live.

“I really hope that Russian policy regarding Ukraine will change, and Mr. Putin will look for ways to save face, respecting Ukrainian integrity and integrity as a country.
But it is very difficult for me to see a connection between Syria and Ukraine. There are major obstacles to US-Russian cooperation regarding Syria. They include the question of support for Mr. Assad and the question of whom, in fact, to bomb.
It seems that the Russians are not only attacking ISIS, but also other opposition groups, some of which are believed to be more measured.
So I don’t know what Putin is doing in Syria that could lead to a change in the West’s position, and the West would provide less support to Ukraine,” the American diplomat said.
