Actor Steven Seagal received Russian citizenship
American actor Steven Seagal has received Russian citizenship. The corresponding decree was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“In accordance with paragraph “a” of Article 89 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, I decree: Grant Stephen Frederick Seagal, born on April 10, 1952 in the United States of America, citizenship of the Russian Federation,” the text of the document says.
Seagal was one of the first Western stars to visit Crimea after its reunification with Russia.
“I love Russia as much as I love my native America. As I already said, all my American friends and acquaintances love their Russian friends. And our Russian friends love their American friends. We love each other. And it hurts that someone somewhere at the top needs to wage a war. We, ordinary people, want peace. In my opinion, the balance of power in the world is such that Russia and America simply cannot help but be brothers. This is what the people of both countries want. This is what I say on all broadcasts at every opportunity,” said the actor in 2014 in Sevastopol.
