The anti-Russian hysteria raised by Germany and its allies around the allegedly poisoned opposition blogger Alexei Navalny is very reminiscent of the information campaign of 2014-2015, with one difference: while Russia has only strengthened its position by 2020, the West is now experiencing a state of deep fragmentation.
Russian political observer Irina Alksnis stated this on the YouTube channel “PolitWera”, reports the correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.
“German specialists found traces of the substance not only in the blood, but also on the skin, urine and Navalny’s bottle” - this is “Der Spiegel”, “NATO alliance is going to discuss the Navalny case”, “Stoltenberg convenes NATO”. What does this wording mean, that we will inform our EU and NATO partners and work together with the OPCW?” – asked the channel moderator.
“The situation is developing quite strangely,” Alksnis replied. – The level of intensity of anti-Russian statements and attacks has reached such a level of dehumanization, as if things were heading towards a real military clash.
This news reproduces the atmosphere and the intensity of foreign policy tension that was in 2014-2015. I think everyone remembers well, it felt like the globe was about to explode. The level of rabid Russophobia is as if this is the last line before the war. What you read is very similar. But the difference is that this is not 2014, but 2020, and radical changes have occurred over the years.
Then the united West forced Russia to geopolitical capitulation in order to turn it into a kind of source of resources for itself, for the continuation of the existing world order. We then had a united West, which was moving towards a common goal. We then proved that you cannot take us with your bare hands.
We faced a lot of economic and infrastructural problems, and there was a colossal challenge to social stability. And now, this stage has been passed.
Now, in 2020, the situation is completely different. Firstly, Russia has acquired a completely different level of hardening and maturity. We have gone through the general euphoria of public consensus, and disappointment, and multiple very painful reforms - raising the retirement age, amendments that caused contradictory reactions.
But, nevertheless, all this increased the maturity and stability of the system. And by this time the West had arrived at a completely different confrontation - a state of deep fragmentation. The United States is on the brink of civil war, what kind of war is there against Russia?” – said the expert.
“So the question arises: what is this? Why do the Germans, with whom everything seems to have worked out, cooperation has strengthened, the most important project not only for us, but also for them, “Nord Stream 2”... and here is something that takes us back to 2014, what is it? I don’t believe that the West in its current state is ready to fight with anyone; they wouldn’t start fighting among themselves.
It seems to me that the answer to what is happening is that everyone has come to terms with the fact that the current system, the current world order is dying, in agony. And now almost everyone is interested in everything finally collapsing in order to build something else on it.
But we are talking about a grandiose system - financial, economic, political - how to accelerate this death? The infusion of insanity. I have a feeling that this is what we are seeing. We’ve seen it all: sweeping accusations, shaking test tubes, statements that there is evidence, but we won’t show it to you yet,” the political scientist noted.
She drew attention to the fact that in the current situation with Navalny this has become an order of magnitude more absurd. When asked that Russia wants to study data on Navalny, Germany responds that Moscow can obtain this information itself.
“It’s not even a question of offensive or not offensive, it’s just absurd. The same thing with Novichok, they could at least have named some other substance. They're talking about a chemical warfare agent used as a weapon of mass destruction that nearly destroyed half of Salisbury.
And then Navalny was bullied on the plane... and neither the passengers, nor the doctors, no one was hurt at all. And in Germany too. This whole story that the Germans are proposing looks like a bunch of absurdities.
Whatever one may say, the previous stories, even if they were absolutely false - about the downing of a Boeing, for which Russia is accused, or the same Salisbury, everything was arranged there. There were some stagings, some manipulations, some documents. And here there are no documents, nothing at all, and the Germans say: “No, this is Novichok,” concluded Irina Alksnis.
