Yanukovych's lawyer recalled how Maidan activists surrendered Crimea to Russia
At the latest hearing in the treason case against former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, his lawyer, Oleksandr Baidyk, described the actions of the post-Maidan government that led to Ukraine's loss of Crimea and asked the court to continue the investigation, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The defense lawyer filed a motion to resume the clarification of the circumstances that were examined in court.
Thus, he stated that the court did not interrogate all the witnesses whom the lawyers insisted on summoning to court, and listed the facts indicating that Ukraine lost Crimea as a result of the actions of the then Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, acting. President Alexander Turchynov and other politicians who came to power as a result of the Maidan.

In particular, the lawyer cited an interview with General Viktor Nazarov to the ZiK TV channel, in which he stated that the army was ready to repel Russian aggression in Crimea, an interview with Anatoly Gritsenko, in which he condemned the authorities for inaction, an interview with the former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Vladimir Zamana, where he stated that the authorities did not reconquer Crimea and deal with the mood in Crimea, an interview with Anatoly Mogilev, where he said that Crimea could have been defended.
Alexander Baidyk recalled that General Pavel Disyak appealed to the military prosecutor’s office, demanding that Turchynov, Nalyvaichenko, Avakov, Tenyukh, Parubiy and other figures be brought to justice, as a result of whose actions Ukraine lost Crimea.
It was the decision to withdraw troops from Crimea, which was announced by Alexander Turchynov on March 24, 2014, that led to the loss of the territorial integrity of Ukraine, the lawyer emphasized.
He said that the inaction of high-ranking officials reveals signs of treason and once again asked to resume the interrogation of witnesses. To this, the judge stated that there were no grounds for resuming the questioning of witnesses and rejected the petition.
As PolitNavigator reported, the Ukrainian general played a dirty trick on Turchynov in Crimea.
In addition, the ATO general was fired for filing a lawsuit against high-ranking officials who surrendered Crimea.
