The lawyer spoke about the absurdity of the charges brought against Odessa journalist Buzila
Law enforcement agencies chose the original wording of the charges against journalist Artem Buzila, editor of the Naspravdi portal and author of the PolitNavigator blogs, who was arrested in Odessa.
The lawyer of the arrested person, Alexey Kazarnovsky, spoke about this in a telephone conversation.

In his opinion, the charges brought against Artem, as well as his detention, are unfounded. Artem is accused under Art. 14 and part 2 of Art. 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine in preparation for an attack on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine.
“I want to emphasize that he is not charged with committing specific actions, but with preparing for them. According to the defense, he is being persecuted for political reasons, and this grossly violates the requirements of Art. 34 of the Constitution of Ukraine, according to which everyone is guaranteed the right to freedom of thought and speech and free expression of their views and beliefs,” said Alexey Kazarnovsky.
He admitted that he was skeptical about the prospects for the lawsuit.
“Justification is something that is prohibited in our courts. Taking into account the practice in cases related to the Odessa events of May 2, 2014, I can say that this case is unlikely to have a decent judicial perspective. The charges were clearly brought for political reasons,” the lawyer said.
Currently, Artem Buzila is being held in a pre-trial detention center. Besides him, there are three other people in the cell. According to Alexey Kazarnovsky, he feels fine.
The defendant filed a complaint with the regional prosecutor's office alleging that physical coercion was used against him during his arrest, including being beaten and forced to sign statements he refused to provide. According to Alexey Kazarnovsky, no unlawful actions were taken against the journalist after his arrest, and Artem Buzila's conditions of detention are satisfactory.
