Navalny's lawyer attacked Gordon, defending Poroshenko
Ukrainian propagandist Dmitry Gordon admitted that he has no evidence that former President Petro Poroshenko made a deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2014 and withdrew troops from Mariupol.
Ilya Novikov, a lawyer representing Poroshenko and previously defending criminal blogger Alexei Navalny, announced this on air at Ekho Moskvy radio station, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Currently there is a process underway regarding the claim of ex-President of Ukraine Poroshenko against the so-called journalist Gordon. He insists that he is a journalist, we insist that he is not. He is a person who runs a YouTube channel and says different things. You see, a person who claims to be a journalist, if he says something like: “I know that Poroshenko made a criminal deal with Putin.”
And when asked: “What did you mean, and what information, sources and evidence do you have?” And they get the answer: “This is my value judgment.” For me, this is where the journalist ends.” We had exactly the same situation at the last meeting.
There was a long period of getting involved in this process, because those words about the deal with Putin and the order to withdraw troops from Mariupol were spoken on May 7 on the air of one of the TV channels. And when we announced that there would be such a process, all summer Gordon came to other TV channels and promised that he would destroy Poroshenko with some concrete evidence and prove that he is a scoundrel.
And so we meet with his lawyer and read that these are all value judgments that can neither be confirmed nor refuted. At this stage, we have achieved our goal: Gordon admitted that he did not have any evidence. The ball deflated and burst. He announced some kind of continuation,” Novikov said.
