Andrey Pavlovsky, a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of previous convocations from “Batkivshchyna”, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv.

“According to happy government reports, by the end of this year almost seven million Ukrainian families will receive subsidies, and next year there will be more than nine million such households. In total, we have about 15 million households, that is, we can say that 60 percent of Ukrainian families are so impoverished that they are not able to pay for their own housing and are forced to turn to state alms, which is beautifully called a subsidy. It’s a shame to talk about this, but in European countries, if you take such help, it is considered that you have fallen to the social bottom. As a rule, in EU countries there are no more than 10 percent of these,” the politician noted.

At the same time, he clarified that it is mainly the unemployed and the least wealthy pensioners who turn to the EU for such assistance.

“Recently at a round table the following figures were mentioned: almost half of our subsidy recipients are working people. This is a shame, this is unacceptable for a European country. If you work in Europe, then you receive a more or less decent salary to pay for your own housing or its rent. The fact that we have such a number of subsidy recipients is a shameful indicator,” summed up Pavlovsky.
