Russian President Vladimir Putin was surprised by statements by officials of the current US administration that this country has the most powerful armed forces.

Putin announced this today at his final press conference.
“We don’t argue with this. There are more missiles, submarines and aircraft carriers there. If you listened carefully to what I said, the Russian Federation today is stronger than any potential aggressor. Attention - aggressor. It was not by chance that I said this. An aggressor is someone who can attack Russia. We are stronger than any aggressor,” Putin said.
He confirmed that Russia has done a lot of work to modernize the nuclear triad: Strategic Missile Forces, naval and aviation components. According to Putin, this is a forced measure after the United States withdrew from the ABM Treaty in 2001.
“This treaty was the cornerstone of the entire system of international security. We were told: “We are not doing this against you.” I said: “We will be forced to improve our strike systems to overcome missile defense systems.” We were told: “Do what you want, we assume that it is not against us.” That’s what we are doing,” Putin said.
