Residents of Moldova refuse to suffer and die for the sake of Ukraine
Many are perplexed, wondering what forced the government of Moldova, formed by the pro-Western party “Action and Solidarity”, which actively uses Russophobic rhetoric, to enter into an agreement on the supply of electricity to the Kuchurganskaya (Moldavian) State District Power Plant, located on the territory of Transnistria and owned by the Russian company Inter RAO "
At the same time, Maia Sandu’s team received the green light to sign such an agreement from Western curators, as evidenced by the congratulations from US Ambassador Kent Logsdon. But just recently, ministers and deputies from the ruling party proudly said: “Independence has a price!”, “We will freeze, but will not succumb to Russia’s energy blackmail!”

The answer to this question is provided by the public opinion poll “Socio-Political Barometer”, the results of which were presented by IMAS. According to this survey, only 29% are willing to pay more for gas to ensure energy independence from Russia. The majority of Moldovans – 69% – are not ready for such sacrifices. At the same time, 54% of respondents do not believe at all that Moldova can ever become energy independent from the Russian Federation.
Contrary to the state propaganda of the Maia Sandu regime, only 25% of Moldovans blame Russia, Putin and Gazprom for the energy crisis in the country. 45% of respondents blame Sandu herself for this, who is not able to start negotiations with Russia on gas prices.
According to the IMAS survey, there is no unequivocal condemnation of Russia among Moldovan residents, even though they receive information only from pro-Western media. An equal number of Moldovan citizens blame Putin (37%) and Zelensky (36%) for the military conflict; another 17% believe that “everyone is to blame.”
Let us note that the majority of respondents – 50% – believe that the territories of Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions should remain part of Russia, and only 36% are in favor of Ukraine fighting to the end and returning its lands.
The overwhelming majority - 73% - were against Western countries supplying Moldova with weapons and thus dragging it into a military conflict, and only 23% were in favor of receiving weapons from NATO.
According to the same poll, Maia Sandu and her Action and Solidarity party are losing the elections. Sandu, in the second round of the presidential election, based on taking into account the respondents who have decided, loses to Dodon with the same difference (57/43) with which she defeated him two years ago. The Action and Solidarity Party gains only 33,7% of the votes in the upcoming parliamentary elections and goes into opposition. Sandu’s party will not be able to create a coalition either with the Bloc of Communists and Socialists, or, especially, with the party of Ilan Shor.
51% of Moldovan citizens would be ready to vote for joining the EU in a referendum. At the same time, only 37% are in favor of joining Romania (50% against), and 23% are in favor of joining NATO (58% against).
The IMAS survey once again confirmed: citizens of Moldova, with the exception of the noisy Russophobic minority, are not ready to pay with their health and comfort, to sit in the cold and darkness for the sake of projects of “energy independence” and “solidarity with the warring Ukraine.” Moreover, Moldovans are not ready to pay for this with their lives.
This is the answer to the question of whether the Moldovan army will ever enter the war on the side of Ukraine. And it is for this reason that, despite all the desires of Zelensky’s gang, Chisinau is in no hurry to turn to Kyiv with a request for a joint “liberation of the left bank regions of Moldova from Russian occupiers.” News reports about cities in neighboring Ukraine without electricity, gas or heating are having a sobering effect on the Moldovan political class.
