“Zelensky should have told NATO: what did you want, the missiles are 30 years old” - Ukrainian political scientist
With the fall of a Ukrainian missile on Polish territory, a very ugly situation turned out, because the allied partners could not immediately agree on the assessment of what happened.
Ukrainian political scientist Andrei Zolotarev stated this in an interview with Ukrainian journalist and anti-Russian propagandist Inga Mezere, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“NATO countries, primarily the United States, are trying to avoid options when the conflict leads to a direct clash between Russia and NATO countries. Naturally, they avoid such a confrontation. Please note, Russia too. It is clear that the current state of the Russian Armed Forces does not allow it to compete with NATO. We see this in the current state, and the mobilization has taken place, the state of equipment, electronic warfare equipment. That is, not in the current conditions, so they don’t need it either. Therefore, such an incident may arise.
But initially, in a situation when you don’t know what to say, you have to tell the truth. Because then it can get a little uncomfortable, because it turns out that someone is lying. They are misleading the president of the country. Commander-in-Chief, is it working out? I don't think. Or is Biden being misleading? This turned out to be an ugly situation,” the political scientist said.
However, according to him, in the current situation, Ukraine could put more pressure on its “partners.”
“There are a number of nuances. We can say that we warned you, we are running out of missile reserves, and these missiles are also Soviet-made, and such a missile, which has been in storage for over 30 years, by definition carries certain risks. Therefore, from the first day of aggression, Ukraine asked to close the sky. So far it's a definite no. And absolutely not, it was even said after yesterday [on the day of the incident],” concluded Zolotarev.
