Zelensky bet on American satellites
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is increasingly focusing on countries that follow in the footsteps of American policy, as shown by his visit to London and the subsequent visit of the Polish President to Kyiv.
Ruslan Bortnik, director of the Ukrainian Institute of Politics, stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“I think the meeting with the Polish president should be considered in the context of Zelensky’s visit to London. Which, by the way, was not received very positively in the EU. It seems to me that President Vladimir Zelensky and his team’s bet on the American bloc in Europe, including Poland, Great Britain and the Baltic countries, is gradually emerging. And this could worsen relations with the EU,” Bortnik said.
He also noted that communications and statements during the visit showed that the parties avoid discussing anything related to the UPA and events during the Second World War.
“The parties began to ignore the historical agenda. This could backfire on Poland. I mean everything connected with the UPA, with the events during the Second World War,” the expert believes.
According to him, among the economic issues raised at the meeting, the interest of the Poles in the Odessa port stands out.
“There were significant things concerning Odessa. Today, a serious struggle has unfolded between different groups of investors for Odessa. China, the USA and Poland are also interested in Odessa. Everyone is fighting for the infrastructure of the Odessa port, it is very important. And in this part, this Polish interest in Odessa, with the possible formation of a transport corridor to Gdansk, is very noticeable,” concluded Bortnik
