Ukraine disputed Russia's historical claims to its ancestral territories, and its leadership, instead of reaching an agreement, started a war.
Congressman Andy Biggs stated this in an interview with American TV host and blogger Andrew Napolitano, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“I’ve been saying for a couple of years now that Putin doesn’t want to take over all of Ukraine. What he wants to do is return Crimea and the Donbass region. This is indeed what they wanted, because this is what they believed was their historical claim.
Ukraine has disputed this claim, but instead of pursuing any peace talks, this president is actually a warmonger and encouraging fighting. Just like we have members of the US Senate - and even in the house, encouraging fighting. And the US doesn't really have any purpose. There is no strategic interest,” Biggs said.
