Zelensky awarded a scholarship to a Mejlis member arrested on charges of sabotage in Crimea
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky awarded a state scholarship named after Levko Lukyanenko to the deputy chairman of the Mejlis banned in Russia, Nariman Dzhelyalov, who was arrested in Crimea on charges of involvement in sabotage - the explosion of a gas pipeline near one of the military units of the Russian Armed Forces.
“To assign a state scholarship named after Levko Lukyanenko for the period of illegal detention, detention and for one year after release to Dzhelyalov Nariman Enverovich,” says the text of Zelyansky’s decree.
As a reminder, Dzhelyalov is currently in a pretrial detention center in Simferopol. Law enforcement officials suspect him of planning and carrying out an act of sabotage on a gas pipeline near the village of Perevalnoye in Crimea , which was organized by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
Prize named after Levko Lukyanenko was established in July 2018 by the country's President Petro Poroshenko. It is intended to provide financial support for Ukrainian saboteurs and extremists convicted by Russian courts.
