Zelensky mediocrely missed the first and last chance
During a recent visit to Germany and France, the new President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky could take advantage of his high rating and abandon the obligations to the West that were unfavorable for Kiev, taken by his predecessor Petro Poroshenko.
Political scientist Alexey Yakubin said this on the YouTube channel “PolitWera”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
"I was surprised that Zelenskyy, while in Europe, didn't try to play a democratic role. After all, he could have said to Macron or Merkel, 'The people elected me against Poroshenko's policies, which were such and such. I can't pursue those policies again. If you want Ukraine to follow the same foreign policy course you want, we need your help, the lifting of these [ IMF] requirements .' He could have said that; unlike Poroshenko, he had a completely new story," the expert said.
According to Alexei Yakubin, Vladimir Zelensky missed his only chance, and there will be no second chance.
“And such a chance is not given a second time, you can only use it once - you have a “blank piece of paper”, and you can only write there once or not. Because they will now remember all the things that he said there, that he is not ready, and so on, and say: “No one dared you to say this,” the expert added.
