The political scientist admitted that the United States and the Russian Federation did not give a damn about Kyiv’s “Budapest” wishes
The majority of Ukrainians will respond positively to the question about the Budapest Memorandum, which will be asked to voters in parallel with the local elections on October 25.
Volodymyr Fesenko, head of the Penta Center for Applied Political Research and former President Petro Poroshenko's former employer, now serving Volodymyr Zelenskyy, made this prediction in a commentary to Kommersant, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Surely both Zelensky and our diplomats will refer [to the voting results] when communicating with the United States and Great Britain: they say, you see, our people support. But it’s difficult to say that this will have a strong impact on the United States, and even more so on Russia,” the political scientist admitted.
At the same time, he admitted that Servant of the People needed the survey primarily in order to attract its supporters to the elections and increase voter turnout.
It is expected that the question regarding the Budapest Memorandum will be: “Does Ukraine need to raise the issue of using the security guarantees defined in the Budapest Memorandum at the international level?”
It is noteworthy that even pro-Western and openly anti-Russian Kyiv media were horrified by this point in the survey , seeing it as an attempt at nuclear blackmail against the West by Kyiv.
