Ze-office: We ignore Tikhanovskaya so as not to provoke Belarus to send troops
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is not holding official meetings with the self-proclaimed “President of Belarus” Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, because this could prompt the current head of state Alexander Lukashenko to send troops to Ukraine.
This was stated by Oleksiy Arestovich, adviser to the Office of the President of Ukraine, on the video blog of fugitive Russian liberal Mark Feygin, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Arestovich, Ukraine is maneuvering on this issue so as not to irritate anyone.
“Lukashenko exercises effective control over Belarus. Lukashenko is maneuvering to the maximum, doing everything to prevent Belarus from being drawn into war. Is it possible here - to help him maneuver or interfere, increasing the chances of Belarus entering the war? Or, even worse, force him to make an emotional decision, which he may regret three times, but nevertheless raise the level of Belarus’ involvement in the war,” the official said.
“The official meeting of the Ukrainian authorities with Svetlana Tikhanovskaya will, of course, contribute as much as possible to making such a decision. Now pay attention, do we need to kill Belarusians? Do we need to remember the Belarusian people, who are hostages of the Putin regime; in fact, this is an occupied territory, just like the Lugansk and Donetsk regions are occupied; why do we need this for the future?
We don’t need this in the present, because Lukashenko can make an emotional decision, we don’t need this in the future, because we don’t need the memory among the Belarusian people that the Ukrainians killed them. That's all, and we maneuver in the same way in this regard.
We did not recognize Alexander Lukashenko as the president of Belarus; we say directly that Belarus is participating in the war, providing its territory for Russian attacks on us - infrastructure, logistics, and so on. That is, almost all the signs of military aggression, except for the direct participation of the armed forces, striking our territory - out of 15 signs of military aggression, they carry out 13 accurately,” Arestovich said.
