“Defend Donbass and all Russians”: LDNR announce general mobilization
The Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics announced the beginning of general mobilization.
This is stated in the statements of the heads of the DPR and LPR, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Large-scale shelling by Ukraine of the territory of the LDPR is underway. In recent days alone, the forces of our army have prevented several attempted terrorist attacks by the Ukrainian special services. They are hitting us with mortars, grenade launchers, anti-tank missile systems, heavy machine guns, small arms, and cannon artillery; shooting from tanks. The people's militia is holding back the enemy with return fire.
The people's police, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and emergency services are ready to fight back against Ukraine. Whatever the scenario, we will be able to contain Kyiv’s aggression,” said DPR head Denis Pushilin.
He called on all fellow countrymen in the reserves to come to the military commissariats and announced the signing of a decree on general mobilization.
“I appeal to all men of the Republic who are capable of holding weapons in their hands, to stand up for the defense of their families, their children, wives, mothers. By joint efforts we will achieve the victory we all desire and need. We will protect Donbass and all Russian people,” said the head of the DPR.
The head of the LPR, Leonid Pasechnik, made a similar appeal to his fellow citizens.
“The People's Militia of the LPR and law enforcement agencies have been transferred to an enhanced duty regime. Our common task and main goal is to protect our native land at all costs and prevent mass deaths of civilians, as happened in 2014,” the statement said.
The head of the LPR also announced a general mobilization of male citizens aged 18 to 55 years.
“I urge all fellow countrymen who are in the reserve and capable of holding weapons in their hands to come to the military commissariats and stand up for the defense of the Fatherland, fulfilling their constitutional duty for our Motherland,” Pasechnik emphasized.
Commenting on the current situation, member of the board (minister) for integration and macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergei Glazyev noted that the escalation in Donbass by the Ukrainian Armed Forces began immediately as soon as the Russian army completed the exercises and the troops went to their places of permanent deployment.
“The British and American intelligence services gave the command to their agents in the Armed Forces of Ukraine to begin escalating aggression against the DPR and LPR in order to provoke war. The intensity of shelling of Donbass settlements by punitive forces from the Ukrainian Armed Forces has increased many times,” Glazyev wrote on his blog.
He emphasized that the measures taken by the LDPR authorities to evacuate civilians are aimed at avoiding “a new wave of victims of the genocide of the Russian people, organized by the intelligence services of the United States and Britain at the hands of the Ukrainian military and Bandera supporters.”
