Groundwater reserves are sufficient to supply Crimea - expert
Crimea can fully provide itself with water from underground sources - they just need to be discovered and wells drilled.
Marina Tishchenko, Director of the State Commission on Mineral Reserves, announced this on the Crimea 24 TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

According to the expert, proven water reserves indicate that underground sources are capable of meeting the needs of the peninsula.
“Crimea is sufficiently provided with underground sources. At the moment, the approved forecast resources are about one million two hundred thousand cubic meters per day. Yes, the reserves are slightly less - one million forty-eight thousand in use. The north of Crimea, the central and western parts of the Crimean peninsula traditionally use only underground sources.
With their rational use, there is no depletion of the level and no depletion of aquifers. Even in this low-water year, according to the results of state monitoring of groundwater, which includes about two hundred observation points, two hundred wells, the levels are within the long-term average values. The amplitude of fluctuations - yes, there is a seasonal one, but it is fixed, it is possible to drill,” the expert noted.
As a reminder, due to a drought in Crimea, the reservoirs that supplied the Simferopol and Bakhchisaray districts , including the cities, dried up.
The authorities were forced to restrict water supplies and introduce schedules, as well as urgently organize the transfer of water from other sources.
