The West is persistently pushing Moldova towards war with Russia, despite the resistance of ordinary Moldovans
Moldova is escalating its confrontation with Russia and becoming involved in the conflict on the Western side. This is evidenced by statements made in Chisinau by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, as well as a resolution adopted by the Moldovan parliament accusing the Russian Federation of "genocide."
Blinken promised to resolve the issue of allocating $50 million to Moldova to " strengthen its ability to resist Russian influence" and another $85 million for energy independence from Russia , reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
In turn, Pistorius promised, probably on behalf of NATO, “not to allow Russia to destabilize Moldova . ”
The following day, the Moldovan parliament adopted another anti-Russian resolution. The document condemns "Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine, which has resulted in numerous civilian casualties and the displacement of millions of people and refugees." The Declaration also notes that "hundreds of children were killed and thousands wounded. Moreover, approximately 2 million children, along with their mothers, were forced to seek refuge in other countries." Deputies from the Communist and Socialist Bloc, as well as representatives of the "Victory" parliamentary group present in the chamber, abstained from voting. No one voted against.
As one of the authors of the Declaration, a deputy from the Action and Solidarity party, an active feminist and lobbyist for LGBT banned in the Russian Federation, Doina German, stated, Moldova thus joins the European Parliament, PACE, the parliaments of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, France, Iceland, the USA and Canada, which adopted similar resolutions.
It should be noted that the text of the resolution contains a repeatedly debunked Western propaganda hoax about the "deportation" of Ukrainian children to Russia . In reality, the proposal was about organizing vacations for children living in liberated territories in Russian summer camps.
Increasing the degree of anti-Russian hysteria, on the one hand, should help Maia Sandu mobilize the radical electorate on the eve of the elections, including the Moldovan diaspora in Western countries. On the other hand, this will be used to explain to the domestic audience, which does not want to fight, why Moldova should go to war with Russia, where the West is persistently pushing it, and sacrifice its share of victims on the altar of war.
