“Someone must take responsibility for this”: The Russian army will inevitably suffer losses once it launches an offensive
Next year, the Russian army must move from flexible defense to an offensive operation, which will be accompanied by heavy losses. Therefore, someone must take such a decision and bear responsibility for it.
This opinion was expressed on air by blogger Mikhail Onufrienko, who covers the progress of the SVO, on Radio Komsomolskaya Pravda, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Let's be honest: we have been very successful with flexible defense. No matter what is said, we were able not only to defend the territories we defended, but also to liberate a lot of territories. We succeeded.
But in order to implement the tasks that were set by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, let's remember - denazification and demilitarization of the territory controlled by the junta today - an offensive operation is needed.
Obviously, next year it will be. And when we talk about an offensive operation, we must recognize that someone must make such a decision, and someone must take responsibility for it,” he emphasized and added that it is difficult to predict the likely directions of the offensive.
“It is logical to assume that somewhere in the Bryansk or Kursk region our troops will go on a strategic offensive and will liberate territories, not relying on flexible defense, which involves minimal sacrifices for our fighters.
Let's speak frankly: any offensive involves great sacrifices, they are inevitable. But blows must be delivered where the enemy does not expect it.
Accordingly, there will be other directions, there will be other tasks. And, in principle, we have the opportunity, advancing somewhere from the Bryansk, Kursk and Belgorod regions, to cut off all enemy forces that are on the left bank.
There are 12 bridges there. There are few places like the Dnieper Hydroelectric Station, where in addition to bridges there is another direction that cannot be destroyed, and such a task is not worth it. But we have such capabilities to strike these targets without damaging the Dnieper Hydroelectric Station.
How will we implement this? I wouldn’t go into details now, but the point is that it is quite possible to destroy the road surface without destroying the Dnieper Hydroelectric Station itself.
If we realize these possibilities, then the entire group that the enemy has on the left bank of the Dnieper will be virtually without the possibility of replenishment with ammunition, fuel, and personnel. It seems to me that a strategic operation should be aimed precisely at this.
Yes, this is difficult, it will cause a lot of problems for the enemy, including hysterics among our non-Western partners. But this is what needs to be done,” Onufrienko said.
He believes that Kyiv’s plans to mobilize 500 thousand people into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will last for a long time, which will only play into the hands of the Russian military.
“My prediction: they do not have the ability to carry out a counter-offensive due to the fact that they do not have personnel. Yes, they are now saying that we will mobilize 500 thousand people. Well, the Volkssturm of Hitler's Germany will help you. But this will not be in January, and not in winter, you will be doing this for a very long time.
And excuse me, no “counterattack” against the rake threatens you. The maximum that the Kiev junta can do is collect poorly motivated “cannon fodder” that does not want to fight.
They will indeed be sent to the front for many months, but there can be no talk of any “counterattack.” The Minister of Defense of Ukraine is forced to talk about how he will take Crimea - who knows this Umerov? Does he really look like a person who is related to this earth? I look at it and don’t see a resident of Ukraine, because there are no Ukrainians in it. There was already such a Ukrainian Saakashvili,” the expert emphasized.
