Yanukovych found a new free lawyer
The new lawyer of former President Viktor Yanukovych, who will be appointed by the Center for Free Legal Aid, will be Yuriy Ryabovol, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the publication “Glavkom” with reference to a source in the GPU.
According to him, after the demarche of Yanukovych’s lawyers and the lawyer appointed by the CBPP in the person of Ovsyannikov, who began to disrupt the meeting of the Obolonsky court together, “prosecutors began looking for a more adequate lawyer for us.”
“He became Yuri Ryabovol, with whom negotiations have already been held, he was given the task of listening to the debate and demonstrating competitiveness in the process,” said a source in the Prosecutor General’s Office.
According to him, the management also set the task of “squeezing” Yanukovych’s paid lawyers out of the process, in particular Serdyuk and his company, most likely for numerous violations. A complaint will be filed against them with the Qualification and Disciplinary Commission and they may even be deprived of their licenses.
“The task is to complete the case, and thereby drop all accusations against the GPU that the prosecutor’s office allegedly “leaks” all high-profile cases or simply sells them,” adds the source.
“It is already known that Yanukovych will be sentenced to 15 years with confiscation of property. There will be no life sentence. Everything has been agreed upon, and is now coming to its logical conclusion,” emphasized a source in the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Earlier it was reported that the Obolonsky District Court of Kyiv decided to replace the lawyer Viktor Ovsyannikov appointed to Yanukovych with another lawyer from the Kyiv center for the provision of free secondary legal assistance.
It was also reported that Viktor Ovsyannikov managed to fly to Russia and meet with his client Viktor Yanukovych.
The court debate in the Yanukovych case was supposed to begin on July 30, but did not take place. On August 1, the court postponed the hearing in this case to August 16.
The investigation accuses Yanukovych under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Part 5 of Art. 27 (high treason), part 2 of Art. 437 (complicity in waging aggressive war), part 3 of Art. 110 (complicity in an attack on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, which resulted in the death of people or other grave consequences).
Yanukovych has been assigned a new free lawyer.
