Yanukovych refuses to liberate the seized coastline on the southern coast of Crimea
For a year and a half after the reunification of Crimea with the Russian Federation, the Russian authorities have not dealt with the seizure of the coastline at the former recreation center “Cape Aya” near Sevastopol - earlier in the Ukrainian media it was claimed that this territory was privatized on the cheap for the family of fugitive President Viktor Yanukovych and construction another palace.
Vladimir Garnachuk, head of the public organization Clean Coast, released a recording of his visit to the recreation center, where access to the sea is still blocked by a fence and security.

“Video of a visit to Yanukovych’s dacha, where they habitually seized the entire shore of the bay and built estates for themselves. This is July 2015, and this is not Mezhyhirya, but Russia,” states Garnachuk.
At the same time, the recording shows that construction work is underway on the territory of the former recreation center, which is disturbing the unique landscape and vegetation of the Batiliman tract.
Interestingly, at the gates of “Cape Aya” the guards posted a warning about criminal liability for entering the territory, as well as filming the coast seized by the family of the ex-president of Ukraine.

In 2010, the Left Bank publication published information that the structures of Alexander Yanukovych purchased a recreation center on Aya in 2007 for 6 million 630 thousand hryvnia. The State Property Fund was then headed by socialist Valentina Semenyuk.
Before the sale, the base was state-owned and belonged to Ukravtodor.
In 2008, according to the publication, Yanukovych expanded his ownership: another 900 meters of beach, which previously belonged to a rehabilitation center for victims of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident, was transferred to the privatized base.
In July 2012, the Party of Regions, which has a majority in the Sevastopol City Council, expanded the territory of Cape Aya by another 5,8 hectares on the third attempt.
