“I am a soldier of the president” - Aksyonov does not want a promotion in the civil service
The head of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, does not see himself as a federal-level civil servant.
He himself announced this in an interview with Vesti. Crimea, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“I take it simply: I am a soldier of the president. And if you ask me, I am not interested in a career as a civil servant. And when various leaders at different levels ask me, today there is a war, I can be useful from the point of view of military situations. This is one picture, whatever decision the leader makes, of course, I will carry it out. From the point of view of peaceful life, if we take it, then this is not mine.
My frame of reference is 2014, when I made my decision. I knew what and where I was leading, and I didn’t have to ask anyone again. The president agreed on the strategy, and I myself understood the tactics.
I didn’t need to clarify 10 times what to say: I came myself, I said, you guys have three minutes to think, hand over your weapons now, otherwise there will be a different conversation. That's all.
Everyone acted, I didn’t entrust anything to anyone, this has always been my style,” said Aksyonov.
He added that he is closer to the style of management and action of 2014 - to grab your teeth and not let go until victory.
“I felt comfortable acting then. On February 28, we basically reported to Moscow that all the military units had passed through and had completely formed the entire position. I was in the SBU, in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in military units - I went everywhere, did not entrust anything to anyone. What I mean is that I was comfortable with the situation. Surprise was upon our country. While there was disunity, there was no single leadership in Kyiv, it was necessary to act now, and not give a second to think. We grabbed onto it and didn’t let go until we won. The leader will make a decision after the elections, the Crimeans will make a decision. I don't want to guess anything. I'm the president's foot soldier. It’s my wish, if they ask me, I’m not a civil servant, and I don’t want to be one,” Aksyonov emphasized.
He complained that for 10 years, Crimean officials, and not only Crimean ones, have not stopped distorting data so that on paper the situation looks much better than the real one.
“It’s frustrating that many colleagues haven’t stopped lying. Whoever invents a cure for lies will be a Nobel laureate. This is at all levels, no matter what. Unfortunately, in a world of lies, whoever speaks the truth is already like a radical. Unfortunately, today, from the point of view of bureaucratic procedures, there is no difference what level the officials are. A significant number deliberately or unintentionally distort information.
Here, in the Bakhchisarai region, the head of the housing and communal services department will be fired. Because it gives information that the entrances in Skalisty have been repaired. I force everyone to personally conduct an audit; they found out that they were deliberately deceived. The head of the department knew that he was preparing false information. This is a problem that we have not overcome in 10 years,” concluded the head of the region.
