Journalist Elena Boyko, expelled from Russia, was allowed to be released on bail

Journalist Elena Boyko, expelled from Russia for violating immigration laws, who gained fame thanks to her participation in a talk show, was allowed to be released on bail after almost a year in prison in Lvov, where the deportee was from.

“Yesterday, thanks to the professionalism of the famous lawyer Svetlana Novitskaya, the court changed Elena’s preventive measure to bail,” said Kiev human rights activist Elena Berezhnaya.

The court set bail at 160 hryvnias, or approximately $6400. Boyko's defense and relatives have now announced a fundraising campaign.
