Today’s presentation of the campaign for elections to the Verkhovna Rada of the party of Svyatoslav Vakarchuk is an attempt to replace the old Maidan projects that have gone bankrupt and have lost popularity with pseudo-new ones that lure voters with a new sign.

Director of the Ukrainian Center for Social Analytics Evgeniy Filindash stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“If Vakarchuk’s party is pumped up financially and medially, and given access to TV channels, then it has prospects, it can even enter parliament, although not with a very significant result. Some “Euromaidan” voters became disillusioned with their previous parties and their leaders. Such voters are looking for new faces, new parties that will operate within the same ideology, but are not particularly tainted. And this category of voters is being palmed off by the relevant individuals and parties, who will act in much the same way as all the previous ones,” the expert said.

His colleague, political scientist Pavel Volya, believes that Vakarchuk, who was formed in Galicia, will compete for the votes of former voters of Lvov Mayor Andrei Sadovoy’s “Self-Help” party, which lost its ratings.

“Many of his theses, and even his manner of speaking, coincided with what the leaders of Samopomich say, like Berezyuk. So far, Vakarchuk has not said anything original. Will he be able to take away some electorate from the same “Samopomich”, as well as ideologically similar forces from the same liberal niche, will he be able to take away part of Zelensky’s electorate (for whom “liberal” voters in the western regions also voted) – we’ll see.” , said Volya.

In his opinion, the presentation of Vakarchuk’s party was weak.

“The presentation of the new party was rather strange - Vakarchuk came in dark clothes, spoke quietly and did not inspire, that is, he did not demonstrate himself as a leader. In any case, I did not see that he had the set of qualities that a leader of a political party should have. Besides, he didn’t say anything new,” the political scientist noted.
