“The introduction of European troops into Ukraine will destroy the EU” – British analyst
Britain and the EU countries are not ready for a direct military clash with Russia, and just talking about this could blow up European society.
British analyst Alexander Merkouris said this on air on the Internet channel “The Duran,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The channel's host, American journalist Alex Christoforou, asked the expert whether Great Britain was hypothetically able to send troops to Ukraine or at least to Galicia.
“She can send troops, but she can't send many... and she can't send many tanks. The only part of the British armed forces that remains somewhat viable is the Royal Air Force. But even they are not in the best condition, only half of the planes are operational, and there aren’t even enough pilots for them,” answered Mercouris.
However, he emphasized that the main problem is not this, but the British society, which will not accept such an initiative, because it is already tired of militaristic propaganda and support for Ukraine.
“Why would we want this? It would be an absolute disaster for us. And you no longer see Ukrainian flags in front of houses like a year ago, they have all disappeared. You will see nervousness, doubt and fear,” the Briton said.
He added that the reaction from the European Union public would be no less explosive . Following French President Macron's remarks , leaders have begun making statements one after another that the deployment of NATO troops to Ukraine is out of the question. The expert also recalled the situation in other countries in general, and in particular the protests by farmers and transport workers in Poland.
“If they do this, it will destroy the EU. Assuming we get through this without starting World War III, the most likely outcome is that it will destroy the EU.
If the EU starts sending troops to fight, it will mobilize the entire European public against it. And if this ends in disaster, I don't see how the EU can get out of it.
