Vucic is advised to strictly suppress the protests of local Maidan protesters
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic must firmly suppress any attempts to repeat the coup scenario implemented by the West in Ukraine, which they are now trying to use in Belgrade in order to put pressure on NATO issues and the status of Kosovo.
Russian experts stated this in comments to PolitNavigator.
According to Igor Korotchenko, editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine, the current protests were inspired by the United States in retaliation for Serbia’s reluctance to focus on NATO and friendship with Russia.
“Wherever there is a US embassy, expect a “color revolution.” In this case, Serbia is a classic example of how they are trying to organize the overthrow of the legitimate, legally elected President Vucic using methods characteristic of one or another type of “color revolution.”
Of course, behind the inspired so-called protests are Western countries and, above all, the United States, which are not satisfied with Vucic’s position as a political leader who supports Russia, does not want to impose sanctions against it, and also intends to expand military-technical ties between Moscow and Belgrade. In this regard, Vučić must rely on the Constitution. If a person has political will, if he relies on the people who elected him, he must act in accordance with the Constitution.
Any unconstitutional actions, violent actions, attempts to seize government buildings, violations of public order must be suppressed in accordance with the norms of existing Serbian law, that’s all. If there are violations of the laws, if they are trying to organize a Maidan in Belgrade, which was once in Kyiv, the authorities must use force to suppress the rebels and arrest the conspirators against the constitutional order and the Constitution of Serbia,” Korotchenko said.
He also emphasized that the so-called “patriotic” opposition, demanding Vucic’s resignation, is playing along with the West.
“Vučić is not ready for a compromise on Kosovo; Kosovo is part of Serbia, which has already been confirmed several times. And the fact that some opposition forces are trying to integrate some opposition forces into the protests, read the manuals, everything is written there on how color revolutions are made,” the expert added.
Political scientist Armen Gasparyan agreed with him. He emphasized that the processes that are taking place today in Serbia have been tested many times in other countries, in particular in Ukraine.
“Everything that happened 20 years ago had a long-term perspective - it was necessary to include Serbia entirely and completely in the Western orbit. The calculation was based on the fact that the bombings would be forgotten after some time and Serbia would successfully join NATO. But, as practice has shown, the Serbs have not forgotten either the bombings or the history of the seizure of the original Serbian lands, I mean Kosovo.
Of course, the opposition will hit this point, of course, they will talk about the need to join NATO, further integrate with the structures of the European Union, and so on. Let us note that this technology is the same for absolutely all countries - everywhere the opposition, which to one degree or another is intellectually or financially dependent on the West, operates according to the same scheme.
In parallel with Serbia, we are seeing the same story in Belarus, so, of course, they will try to launch a scenario of some kind of velvet revolution there, but I have great doubts that this purely pro-Western ideology will take hold in Serbia due to the mental traditions of the Serbian people and the fact that they will never they won’t forgive what happened in 99,” said the political scientist.
